Posted below are the July 2010, two wheeler sales numbers of our two wheeler manufacturers. As usual the growth story continues for ALL the two wheeler makers in India. This is in stark contrast to the global slowdown affecting the international 2 wheeler makers.

The monthly sales figures include domestic sales as well as exports. Also it includes sales of all types of 2 wheelers (Motorcycles, Scooters, Mopeds etc.)



Hero Honda sold 427,686 units in July 2010 (Up by 17% over last year)

Hero Honda Hero Honda, the country’s largest two wheeler maker, on Monday reported a jump of 16.60 per cent in sales at 427,686 units in July 2010. The company had sold 366,808 units in the corresponding month of the previous year, Hero Honda said in a statement.

Besides this, the company has recorded more than four lakh despatch sales in a single month for the third consecutive time. "The four lakh plus sales in July has set an upbeat tone for the beginning of the new quarter (July—September). As we move into the festive season in the coming months, we anticipate maintaining this buoyancy," Hero Honda Motors Senior Vice President (Ma rketing and Sales), Mr Anil Dua, said.

The company is planning a series of new launches in the coming months, leading up to the festive season, he added.




Bajaj Auto sold 279,781 units of two-wheelers in July 2010 (Up by 66% over last year)

Bajaj Auto Ltd. The country's second largest two-wheeler maker, Bajaj Auto, today reported a 66 per cent jump in motorcycle sales to 279,781 units in July.

The company had sold 168,163 units in July last year, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) said in a statement. BAL's exports went up by 56 per cent to 106,794 units in July, 2010, from 68,585 units in July, 2009.

While production constraints continued to limit sales of motorcycle and three-wheelers, "export sales continued to be ahead of plan," BAL said. The company reported a 60 per cent rise in three-wheeler sales last month to 38,634 units, as against 24,104 units in the same month last year.

Total vehicle sales of the company last month stood at 318,415 units, compared to 192,835 units in the same period a year ago, a growth of 65 per cent, the statement said.



TVS Motor sold 163,106 units of two-wheelers in July 2010 (Up by 35% over last year)

TVS Motors Auto major TVS today announced a 35 per cent increase in two-wheeler sales to 163,106 units in July, 2010, driven by a 54 per cent surgein exports. The company sold 120,944 two-wheeler units in July, 2009, it said in a statement.

While domestic sales witnessed a growth of 33 per cent, the export of over 20,000 units in July, 2010, as against 13,000-odd units last year translated into a growth of 54 per cent, thereby boosting the overall sales growth for the month.

The company sold 61,051 motorcycles in July, 2010, against 42,998 in the corresponding period of the previous year -- a growth of about 42 per cent -- while the sale of 40,357 scooters translated into a 46 per cent growth.

"Three-wheeler sales of the company crossed the three thousand mark for the second consecutive month, recording 3,108 units in July, 2010, in comparison to 1,026 units in July, 2009," the release said.



Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has sold 138,445 (in India) units of two-wheelers in July 2010 (up by 23% over last year)

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India Two-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) today reported a 22.68 per cent growth in sales at 138,445 units in July over the year-ago period. The company's total sales stood at 112,855 units in the corresponding month of the previous year, HMSI said in a statement.

Motorcycle sales jumped 35.02 per cent to 61,769 units in July this year, against 45,748 units in July 2009, it added. The company reported an increase of 14.26 per cent in scooter sales to 76,676 units in the previous month, compared to 67,107 units during the same month of the previous year



Yamaha India sold 29,728 units of two-wheelers in July 2010 (Up by 30% over last year)

Yamaha India Yamaha sold 29,728 units in July 2010 as against 22,807 units sold in July 2009.

Riding on high growth trajectory backed by impressive product line-up, India Yamaha Motor has registered a growth of 30.3 % in sales during July 2010 as compared to the corresponding period last year.

It sold 29,728 units in July 2010 as against 22,807 units sold in July 2009. In domestic markets, the company sold 22, 899 units in July 2010 as compared to 17, 316 units in the same month last year. The export figures stood at 6,829 units in July 2010 while 5,491 units were exported in July 2009.




Suzuki Motorcycle India has sold 18,512 units of two-wheelers in July 2010 (Up by 48% over last year)

Suzuki Motorcycle India Two-wheeler maker Suzuki Motorcycle India on Monday reported a 47.64 per cent growth in sales in July to 18,512 units compared to same month last year.

The company had sold 12,539 units in July last year, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd said in a statement.




Mahindra 2 Wheelers has sold 12,033 units of two-wheelers in July 2010 (Up by 329% over last year)

Mahindra 2 WheelersMahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on Monday reported a 329 per cent jump in two-wheeler sales at 12,033 units in July, against 2,808 units in the year-ago period.

"The company also achieved the landmark sales figure of 1 lakh scooters in 11 months, as compared to the set objective of one-and-a-half years," M&M said in a statement.

"We are delighted to have achieved 12,000-plus numbers in retail volume in the month of July, which is the highest ever. The one-lakh milestone has been crossed in such a short period, which further endorses the growing trust of the Indian consumers in Mahindra two-wheelers," M&M's two-wheeler sector President Anoop Mathur said.

"We are confident of maintaining the pace of growth and will continue our journey to achieve bigger milestones in times to come," he said.
